twisted in the cord (delete heard ‘round the world)

dead torpedos sleep in uniform

red tuxedo, rented to perform

unworn ground mine

undetonated land whale

watch me beach mountains

carrying everything in front of me

and the rented unicorn

miles of stage

killed ographers of sand stuck in shoes

and creases in the mirage,

with very fine sandpaper,

we carve out our breath for one another

try to ride the same raft

floating in the same rash

in the (insulated) bubble of blown out symbols

printing paper

cuts for

the already cut in half

catch me climbing beached mountains

watching lighthouses fade

in the industry of gone

in ocean plastic pants

(up to our neck)

deep dog breath
paddle back in

for charge-less breakfast

chew staples, gnaw attractive clocks

complimentary meet

and drop bones

dead ideas sleep in uniform

undetonated ideas never sleep at all
watch the ticking ground, up underneath you

blood red tuxedo

can feel the ground(up meat) thru the microphone

shock and brimstone hat

hard on the aw and yea

can you feel me trying to tip or float

“i gave it all up for the”

depends on the stage

hope, file, save (,hope,dial,slave)

(signed, Plenty Slack Rope)

performer in un-uniform

push heaviest stage

drag bloodiest costume through barely seen and some felt,

the layers of underlayment, singing for the tips (and thrown life floats)

where the tool hits subject

where the would sands back down to plank

And for those who jump

And for those who jump

shrink ideal

pharma-even-keel

keeping shadows under heel

bury hurried feelings for the ceaseless stagnant smile

top ten bones to pick

on the doctor’s playlist

writing yourself off

washed up under the bridge

smacked with a stack of scripts , a financed fist

up where paper make sign

(where sign enforces direction)

the army’s bullets are bourgie

sporting sun hats ’n soaking in pie flavored smoothies

the republic’s jacuzzi weighs a ton

oppressive crown molding and fake scholar sconce

hottest pool heat

we’re dunce

cornered and all me me me

assuming and snooty

child’s pose and doctor’s consult

all that and wolves meat

every bone hung out to dry

real muscle rides in limos

the limited imagination stretched

like a rubberband around a ball of rubberbands

pulls up to the same window

yesterday bounces back like a bad check

cancel police (the majority of us don’t enforce the books we read)

shade is security for some, power and control a family tree

the majority of us don’t feel the fruit on our branches

the hand in our hands, death was debt to most, living was a payment plan

to owe death (your) life

when the only way to breath is to exhale

the only way to live is to let go

Exquisite Corpse 16 (Latent News Redux)

On Oorah 30th, 20AllTeens, a fence and shovel of two was shot at oink blank range in a relatively quiet gentrified area of Menthol Heights, Spinnesota.

The bacon's name was CoughUpsyrup Everyday Dad, (worked for his dependence, and was loyal to it) he was Performing a Traffic-Stop-agit-prop piece on a pedestrian who - it was later discovered - was a human being, Dad’s gun didn't even have a chance to grab its head and think.

It could be the super bowl test of self-reliance: Three Skittish pillagers are risking their own lives in the toxic waste oceans they, with good hearts, created, to now measure the amount of Fire and Melt we have left.

The trademarked PR dream team is on a drunk-tank-stay with a one hundred forks hike ahead of them to their equated estimation of a North or South Pole.

Any Amy Harms was straight-jacketed and scorched-bathed in rich folk water in 2thousandPreTeen when she ‘poor-commuted’ past Clobb County cops who were questioning a wake of buzzards circling over a (thrown out) piece of the american pie.

Audio from one of the Clobbers, recorded on the nightstick’s dashcam, has the apple in him saying, “This isn’t really happening.”

While the butter soft ‘fuck the police’ stampede continues into co-opted gravy, the false narrative that the world can take it’s own temperature waits for scientist’s nurses to spread their ass cheeks, global paradigmatic consciousness change - still warm reports show the military has crusaded beyond the debate.

The Only Press reports today that “to the slave’s masters, the debate over cultural change is long dead.”

WASHINGUN:

We now know that The Inevitable Convict was more misunderstood than a menace or martyr, but that won’t stop Limp fingers from pushing grubby money buttons and apologetically singing “this hugged tree will be my house,” (in the named key of “Help.”)

The need somebody teen in BurningSun, MissedJourney, allegedly robbed a high thief, attacked a white slice of bread and was made toast (cremated) while resisting false arrest.

————————sources:

“On July 30, 2014, a husband and father of two was shot at point blank range in a relatively quiet residential area of Mendota Heights, Minnesota.”

“The man’s name was Officer Scott Patrick, and he was performing a traffic stop on a driver who—it was later discovered—was a wanted fugitive. Patrick didn’t even have a chance to grab his gun.” ——TheBlaze.com

“It could be the ultimate test of human endurance: Three British explorers are risking their lives in subzero temperatures to measure the melting Arctic ice cap.”

“The team is on a three-month, 621-mile (1,000-kilometer) hike to their final destination at the North Pole.” ——CNN.com

“Amy Barnes was jailed and held in solitary in 2012 when she called out "fuck the police" as she bicycled past Cobb County cops who were questioning a suspect by the roadside.”

“Audio from one of the officers, recorded on the cruiser's dashcam, has him saying, "That ain't happening.” -—boingboing.net

“While the corporate media continues to keep alive a false narrative that the world's scientists are still divided over global climate change - new reports show the military has moved beyond that debate.”

“The Associated Press reports today that "to the world's military leaders, the debate over climate change is long over." -—commondreams.org

WASHINGTON:

“We now know that Michael Brown was much more of a menace than a martyr, but that won’t stop liberals from pushing an anti-police narrative that harms the black poor in the name of helping them.”

“The black teen in Ferguson, Mo., robbed a store, attacked a white police officer and was shot dead while resisting arrest.” -—wallstreetjournal.com

Brad has also been focusing on Experimental Theatre (Agit-Prop/Radical Participatory Theatre) since 2014. Brad has toured internationally with his performance art. He has been creating and performing with The Living Theatre (the oldest avant-garde theatre company in USA) since 2014. He was a part of the company in the last year of the co-founder, Judith Malina’s life, when he performed in her last completed play, “No Place To Hide” on the streets of NYC. Brad also toured the US with The Living in 2016 on the Know Your Rites tour, performing a revival of The Living Theatre’s 1973 play, “Seven Meditations on Political Sado-Masochism”, while also performing direct-action street pieces at specific sites of coercion, oppression and exploitation around the USA. Brad also collaborated with The Living Theatre to collectively devise Electric Awakening (Despertar Eléctrico), which was workshopped and performed with local artists in São Paulo, Brazil in 2017 at SESC. Brad also helped produce the The Living’s Theatre’s Al Límite Tour in 2019, which brought Electric Awakening workshops/performances to Mexico City, Tijuana, Mexico and Los Angeles, CA. In 2016/2017, Brad wrote and produced music and live performances with Child of No Nation, a radical, experimental sound and performance project (with Leah V Bachar, jdaugh and Cypress Atlas). He is a co-founding member of the Al Límite Collective.

Frietboer chose a handful of poems from Brad’s recently published book and asked him to record himself reading them. Brad then sent Frietboer the acappellas and Frietboer created sound design for each piece.

Leading up to the release Shrine13 dropped 2 tracks and 2 accompanying Video Collages made by JDaugh and Brad Hamers every Friday, starting June 25th thru July 16. Check them out below:

Shrine13 presents Child of No Nation’s second release, “La Pánica,” an album of radical lullabies that explore the panic effect on the psyche. Using warped lap steel, experimental vocals, and found sounds, CNN excavates the relationship between panic and power.

The album is a surreal commentary on virtual occupation via theatrical storytelling by the entity, La Panica. Embracing their panic as power, CNN emerges from the information stronghold where our senses are currently locked through audio and video revolt.

In their live performance art, CNN collaborates with and celebrates the fluxus nature of society. Their live audio revolts are sound collage turned up. This agit-pop project has many faces and many lives as CNN continues to re-contextualize and revolt each track every time they perform live. Nothing is meant to stay the same. This is not music.

We decided to release on Saturday April 10th to honor the death day of our deep muse and Patron Saint Judith Malina, who is still revolting with us every day. You’ll hear her voice and many others on this experimental record.

Format: Perfect-bound Paperback BOOK (Handmade)

Released: Nov. 30, 2020
Genre: Poetry
----------------------------------------------------

The Humming Prole is perpetually hanging wet laundry on lunch hour between two buildings. The year is Always.
Written to survive. The Long Brainwash. Rinse Twice before Dream.

Snapshots of a Popular Sickness eating itself (in the mirror).
The slow-motion Anxiety of wage-slavery in dress Code.

Double XL intuition, sagging without a belt.
The loudest voice in a vacuum, pulling back the rug.

(Undressing emperors with Words)

Written from the Turning Gut of the Bureaucratic Beast brought to its knees picking up Change.
The feeling’s been there for years.
The feeling’s been there for years.

Knew before knowing how to say it.
Then said it in as many ways possible.

To draw a room of the feeling.

To write right next to the point, to just suggest one’s mind’s eye towards something but always allow them to find it themselves. No wrong answers, no stupid questions.

The Humming Prole is a cigarette break, without a phone.
A way home, to repeat tomorrow (and see something new).
The Humming Prole is part rant, part deep breath.
An uphill swimming pool.

A room filled only with Tools to Break Out.

The Humming Prole by Brad HamersAn introduction by jdaugh
Meta4etry was the first book published by Brad Hamers in the year 2000. While it is the author's least favorite offering, its title might be the most apt and illuminating description of the writing you are about to consume. The communiques of Brad Hamers break from patterns of modern language in that they refuse the flag and staff of English rules or fad. He confiscates the rules of the language and breaks them to use as weapon. These poems are the washrag and loofa for the caged up soul. Some are the castille, some are the steel wool and 20 grit. This collection spans nearly 15 years of writing; a selection of poems that feeds the humming prole, but only makes them louder. Read it loud aloud.
----------------------------------------------------
The Humming Prole is Brad’s 3rd full book of poetry to be published, his first full book in 17 years, since the 2003 release of Leather Raincoats (+18 other titles). The Humming Prole is 60 poems and over 130 pages. Each copy is Handmade by Brad, perfect-bound with a homemade book-binding jig (video below).

Through Flames is an experimental sound collaboration borne from exquisite corpses, radical participatory theatre, spoken word, and love. Theirs is art for all those who have burned and all those rising.A new project created by Brad Hamers, the prolific spoken wordsmxn, poet, musician, performance artist, collage artist and mental gymnast (Dust on Snow, Phlegm, Two Ton Sloth...) and the filmmaker, poet, musician and performance artist, jdaugh.
Each track on the new self-titled LP is the result of a unique writing and vocal experiment resulting in non traditional song structures and unexpected turns...it is advisable to read along with the lyrics.

Press:
Queen City Sounds and Art .COM (2020):“Through Flames Deconstructs the Dystopian Late Capitalist Conditioning in the Call and Response Dialectic of “No Clothes on the Warden”“Brad Hamers and jdaugh bring their respective backgrounds in music, poetry, performance art, visual art and filmmaking to bear for their new project Through Flames. The duo released its debut self-titled LP on Apri 24, 2020 and the single “No Clothes on the Warden” cleverly makes use of the concept of “the emperor has no clothes” to deconstruct the economic and political realities we internalize and take for granted that if we’re able to break our conditioning and see things for how they are the whole thing could crumble in a matter of days or months and maybe we would be forced to simply live in a better world where there’s no techno-plutocratic agenda necessitating a police and surveillance state to smooth the funneling of most public goods to the upper one percent of one percent. In a fascinating use of call and response delivering couplets of observations on society in a way that challenges rote and familiar constructions of thought and language to almost force you to think about what’s being vocalized and in turn examine your ow thinking on the subject of our ascribed roles in the dystopian late capitalist international system that we find ourselves in now and which threatens the existence of us all and the safety of the planet. But rather than torching the edifice of such verbally and musically, Through Flames with this song dismantles the cognitive framework that keeps it in place in your brain in a playful and charming way. The accompanying rhythms, drones and spare melodies make what is a fairly radical set of propositions vis what is now for us the norm much easier to accept and that is what makes for a work of art that might help change things.”

------------------------------------------
Tome To The Waether Machine .COM (2020) :“Word of the Day” by Through Flames – a recording project between musician and poet Brad Hamers and filmmaker and performance artist jdaugh – was “borne from exquisite corpses, radical participatory theatre, spoken word, and love in Portland, Oregon.” A multi-part and divergent slice of “Sorrow-Pop”, spoken word poetry, choral arrangements, sound collage and slow-burning dirge-like synthesizer and guitar explorations, “Word of the Day” strains at the corners trying to contain all of this content and all of these ideas flying through the air. The loose narrative thread forms around ideas of vulnerability and safety confronted with the inherent instability of a system at it’s breaking point. Brilliant work.”

LYRICS:

Tool Belt Down
B:

she brings her tool belt down from the highest coma

the pointiest cloud

drags it down like a parachute from a tree

like all day rain

like wet shoes

she brings the Named ladder down last

wiping crosses from her eyes

blowing knows into the flag

the pointiest dreams

wild slugs on a team

nation: gun

made of money

(pooh and turned honey)
(made of) glut and fuck me

he brings his wet pussy down from ivory towers
like storm rain in a house gutter

cums crashed planes like deployed troops

money shot on afghan land

she brings her ideology by a leash

drags it around like fog

like the lightest mountain (those only at the ‘top’ can climb)

jog harder

lift those sopping wet socks

with holes

you’re all day rain

you’re (shackle-grade) lead shoes

he brings the iron

she brings the toast

they break the hour glass and eat it

like all day lunch

the pointless-est cloud

drags ya down like a fireman from a tree

like all morning shakes

he gets up gun first

works backwards, draws straight lines with two right feet

she dances in crosses and squaresthey weave pipe dreams (and bombs) in and out of herhe steps on her feethe makes them smaller and sells them to touriststhey dance for each otherthe stage half collapsed eaten and full of itself

tool belt down

aisle pointless

six black sites with mops Now

get your shoes wet

bring the ladder down

wipe your fee(a)t of muddied dreams

they bring their tool belt and horse down last

the dullest of butter knives

the barely a drizzle (annoying rain(reign) in your face)

the pointiest cloud

you drag it around like someone else’s balloon you found stuck in ‘your’ tree

she congratulates you and hands you summer

he charges you for it and calls it ‘vacation/holiday’

pay with your broken

pocket guitar punching down nails

pick something to climb and eat fruit from

before they both kill themselves

and we realize they never existed

it was just a downpour in a dream

it was just timeblowing kisses into a ragit was only life dragged down like wet toilet paper from a front yard tree

Why Can’t I Dream.

J:

My woke trances still my eyes

make dumb my fluid thoughts

arrested in liquid

a floating orb in black water

a flicker of azul

  and numbing like cold
that is warm and blanketless

but all around me

might I peel them open?

but the weight is light and pressing

                                	                    and there’s mud

it’s sediment that mushes high-in-bio-nutrient-muddy-in-my-toes

suspended

all legs and heads floating

water is air

so I breathe in deep gulps and become my fish

I am afraid of the black, still open-shut open-shut of the abyss

I don’t have to turn for bedsores
but I understand nothing

nothing chases me

and I can’t recall the faces

I am standing in jelly-muck child-hood-river-bed-made-of-fish-shit-and-dead-leaves

in still water

it slides around my ankles sucking through my toes oozes the richness

my feet clap out to walk

Is there a rock at the bottom of the ocean

is there sky
is there an answer there?

does the behemoth swim the deep and make a sound if there’s no human there to hear it?

eardrums on vacation

still yourselves with science

still yourselves.

still yourselves with science

        the ocean thinks it’s sleeping

still yourselves.

still yourselves with science

the immediacy is in the people who are the earth and planets

The Cycle Of

prop sawed off applause gun, phantom sadness, i feel it even when it’s not there,
the mess we’ve made, and the broom to sweep us off our feet,

sterile get-up, hygienic slap, bash-ful futility belt, saggy breathe,

i attempt to let my hog-tied tongue catch the buffet of words always running out of an open field
and into a thicket of open arms and upturned spoons like a tight forest is dark before dusk,
like a meal in a covered plate, i wait, for the woods that sit along the edge of our game like
coaches and players, to call me in or throw me out

sick get-up

B:

i folded this letter into a paper airplane, a brick from a building, (thru) a window made of bottle glass),
a spitball on fire, a siren to slow down head traffic and echo on through the streets
the blood was red tape shit shovel and formal workboot

the sewer in me was ball room and lonely

J:

we feel these things and are born by them

these stories we tell ourselves

are all the same

floating above body

grasping the edge of reason

reaching for the shadow

we know we fear this moment
